QUATEST 3 has launched its Offices and Laboratories at Cat Lai Industrial Zone, District 2 and signed an Alliance Agreement to expend cooperation with UL

On October 18, 2016, with the presence of leaderships from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality (STAMEQ), QUATEST 3 has officially inaugurated and put into operation its Offices  and Laboratories at Cat Lai Industrial Zone – District 2. At this event, an alliance agreement QUATEST 3 has also broaden cooperation with Underwriters Laboratories (UL) when the two organization have signed an Allience Agreement specializing in testing and certification for mechanical performance and chemicals emission  of furniture and accessories to meet export requirements to international markets. This is also an important event that marks a new turning-point of the QUATEST 3 over 40-year development and heading towards the 55-year anniversary of STAMEQ.

The QUATEST 3’s Offices and Laboratories building  located at Lot C5, K1 drive, Cat Lai Industrial Zone in District 2, Ho Chi Minh City, which has nearly 20.000 m2 of usage area, is one of the vital projects of MOST and STAMEQ to enhance the capacity in conformity assessment for products and serviceswith the aims to to comprehensively support the growth of businesses in the Southern key economic zone of the country in particular, as well as those operating in the whole country in general, in the context of extending its international trade.

Together with the opening of QUATEST 3’s building, the US UL has also officially inaugurated its new Consumer and Retail services Laboratory located at the QUATEST 3’s building. The laboratory will help UL to create capabilities providing testing and certification  services for conformity of consumers products (textile, garments, footware, toys, gift sets and other type of commodities) to meet requests from manufacturers and businesses in Vietnam and the region for export to international market such as: US, EU, etc. This is also the first laboratory initializing the tight cooperation between QUATEST 3 and UL and also marking the the official presence of UL in Vietnam market based on the Memorandum of Agreement signed since April 2015.

The series of important events is ended with signing an Alliance Agreement between QUATEST 3 and UL to extend the cooperation between the Parties to develop a Laboratory for Furniture and organic compounds emission (VOCs) which will be expected to open in early 2017, which is also a mark of the tighten relationship between QUATEST 3 and UL. Under this Alliance Agreement, QUATEST 3 is a pioneering organization in Vietnam, with support and assistance from UL, to develop a fully equipped laboratory in compliance with the highest international norms, providing testing services of furniture and chemical emission from furniture, other in-door and office appliances in order to help Vietnamese in particular, as well as the regional manufacturers and traders to promote business and export products conformed to global regulations, especially in such tough markets like North America, Europe and so forth.
